Indian Dairy Association ( West Zone ), established on 23rd September 1976, is one of the four zonal branches of the Indian Dairy Association. Its area of operation is spread over the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Daman &Diu. IDA (WZ) office is located at Mumbai. There is a Gujarat State Chapter of Indian Dairy Association, which is located at Anand, Gujarat.
The Co-operative movement of milk producers started in Gujarat and the 'Anand Pattern' was developed by NDDB during 1970, which paved the way for the world's largest Dairy Development Program, "Operation Flood". This unique program launched by Dr. V Kurien, Chairman, National Dairy Development Board further created "A White Revolution - a milk revolution" in India.
The States & UT's in West Zone produce more than 23% of India's total milk production of 187.70 million tonnes(2018-19). Madhya Pradesh -15.91 million tonnes, Gujarat -14.45 million tonnes, Maharashtra -11.67 million tonnes, Chhattisgargh - 1.57 million tonnes and Goa, Daman & Diu 0.66 million tonnes.
The popular milk and milk product brands Amul, Gokul, Gowardhan, Prabhat, Mahananda, Sugam, Sumul, Sagar, Katraj, S.R.Thorat, Govind, Dynamix, Sneh, Uttam, Vikas, Kanhaiyyaand the dairy equipment manufacturers GEA Process Engineering, GOMA, IDMC, KK Cans, Nichrome and Zeuzer Engineering are some of the institutional members of IDA (West Zone). The institutional members also include the esteemed organizations, National Dairy Development Board, National Co.op. Milk Federation of India, IRMA, BAIF Development Research Foundation, Gujarat Co.op Milk Marketing Federation, Madhya Pradesh Sahakari Dugdh Mahasangh, Maharashtra Rajya Sahakari Dudh Mahasangh Maryadit and many others.

In the past, Dairy Industry Conferences in West Zone were inaugurated by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Dr. V Kurien, Father of White Revolution, Dr. Miss. Amrita Patel & Shri. DilipRath, Chairman, NDDB and many other top leaders of India. IDA (WZ) had organized following DIC's, Seminars, Woekshops and Exhibitions.
